“Good To Know” Information

Your Child’s Jostens Photos are Ready!

Students photos taken on 9/15 are now available for preview and ordering on the Jostens website.

Please note, in order to search for your child’s photos, you will need two pieces of information ahead of time: Oltman’s event code FE11321 and your child’s Oltman student ID number.  If you do not know the student ID you can also call 651-425-3500 and the school can supply you the ID number.

  1. Parent will log onto https://shop.jostenspix.com

  2. Create their free account.

  3. At the top it will say “Find your Student”

  4. Enter the school name, school event code (FE11321) and the student’s first and last name.

  5. Click Add student

  6. It will prompt you to add the student id number

  DID YOU KNOW?

  • You can personalize your photos with a variety of backgrounds and text

  • Photos are shipped directly to your home

  • High-res digital downloads are available

  • If you have more than one child, you can order together and pay once.

Leaving Early?

If your child  needs to leave school early for an appointment please send a note with your child and have them bring the note to the student support office in the morning when they arrive. Ms. Backer will give them a pass that will let the teacher know when the student should leave class and go to the office to wait for pick-up. Parents can also call the school to have passes delivered to students mid-day if  necessary, 651-425-3589.  Issuing passes to the students ahead of time is very helpful for the office and also for the parents.  Passes in advance ensures your child will be waiting when you arrive rather than you having to wait while the office locates them in the classroom. As a reminder, you will be asked to provide an ID in order to pick up your child during the school day.

Bike Riders

We are working on getting additional racks for bikes. The following announcement has been made in the morning for students: “For students who ride bikes to school...please make sure that you lock up your bike during the day. If you are having trouble finding an available spot, please come into the office and someone will help you find an alternative spot to secure your bike.” We will assist any student who is having trouble finding a spot to secure their bike  in the morning while we work on additional racks.

OMS Social Media

Did you know Oltman has a presence on two social media platforms?  We have a Facebook page, and brand new this year, an Instagram page.  Follow Oltman on either platform if you’re interested for fun pictures and timely news and announcements!

High School Football Games

No elementary or middle school students will be admitted to a home high school football game in SoWashCo Schools unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. This expectation has been adopted by several other schools in our conference as well as the metro area. We encourage all parents to discuss this policy with their children before bringing them to the games. If students enter the gates with their parents, we would expect that they sit with them throughout the entire game. Students who loiter in the concourse or grassy areas often cause a concern for the other fans that are there to watch the game. This policy will also help us follow our COVID Guidelines for spectators at an event. We hope parents can help us enforce this policy.

Cell Phone Expectations

Please take a minute to review our headphones and cell phone Expectations & Consequences and remind your child of these expectations.  We understand that it is very convenient to text or call your child during the day, and your child will continue to have multiple opportunities throughout their day to check and return messages between classes and during lunch.  However, during class periods, we want the focus to be on learning and instruction and ask that cell phones be secured in lockers.  All classrooms are equipped with telephones and instant alert buttons (emergency and two-way communication between classroom and office) should we need to communicate during instructional time. If you need to reach your child for an emergency, we ask that you call our office directly so we can ensure that your message is conveyed promptly to your child.

Volunteer Opportunities

Although we are currently limiting who is in the building during the school day when students are present, we do have occasional opportunities where we could use volunteer support.  As an example,  we have copies of a document we need counted out for each Advisory’s roster and would welcome some assistance getting these ready for teachers.  This is a job that could be picked up and completed at your home at your convenience. If you’d like to volunteer now or in the future, please complete this short form and as we have opportunities, we will contact you directly.

Bus Reminders

Please review important transportation reminders:

  • Masks must be worn by all passengers when riding the bus.

    • Students who continue to not wear a mask on the bus may have their riding privileges suspended.

  • Seating charts will be used on all vehicles.

    • Drivers may not be able to accommodate seating requests.

  • Students are required to wear seat belts if the vehicle is equipped with seat belts.

  • We encourage families to view the Bus Safety Video with their child/children.
